The London School of Guitar Workshop Is On

Wow!  You should see this place!

Last night we registered and got settled… and then the party began.  After things settled down a bit, they had an “Open Mic” session for anyone who wanted to perform.

Several folks went before me.  The music was more of the “Blues” type and they were all hooked up to electronics.

Then, it was my turn to do “my thing.”  I play a simple, straight forward style… and don’t have a lot of heavy duty electronics to back me up.  So, my music style is much different than a lot of the students and teachers here.  (You might say… “I bring music back from the 60s and 70s.”)

When I started to perform, Read On!

Jackson Danger Sings And Floats Down The San Juan River

Boy, did I get excited when Dad said we were going on a river trip.  He got together with a couple of his friends and planned a Dad/Kids trip down the San Juan river which is south of Moab, Utah.

It’s not the cleanest looking water… more like chocolate milk.  They say it flows into Lake Powell and dumps a lot of sand and sediment into the lake.  They chose this particular river because it’s one of the safest rivers to take young kids on.

Sure enough… it was safe.  In July, the river is only about 3 feet deep.  The water is warm… in fact they said it’s about 80 degrees this time of year.  There were a few small rapids, which made the slow flow of the water a little more fun.

We were on the river for 3 days Read On!

London School Of Guitar Workshop Coming Up Soon

The London School of Guitar Workshop is coming up on Monday, August 6, 2012 in Park City, Utah.  It’s been a long two months since I was accepted into the program.  I’m really anxious to attend and learn from some of the best guitar musicians around.

We will really have a busy schedule after we register.  The event starts off with a party… can you believe it?   We’ll not only meet our instructors but we’ll enjoy performances from special guests.  (Hmmmmm wonder who they are?)  After the party, the students get to stay for an open mic session where we can all jam together.  Wow!  We’re starting out the week right, if you ask me! Jackson Danger Invited to London School Of Guitar Workshop

I’m so excited… I’ve been accepted to attend the London School of Guitar Workshop in Park city in August.   Just take a look at the view from the back side of School’s cool building.

It’s a great opportunity for me to rub shoulders with other hopeful guitarists.  We will be taught by guest artists who are professionals in their field.

This year, one of the teachers will be singer/songwriter, “G. Love” (Garret Dutton) of Philadelphia.  He adds a combination of blues and folk to his music.  He is a Bob Dylan fan just like I am.

Here is one of his videos. Read On!

Guitar Musician Jackson Danger at the Slick Rock Cafe

As a guitar musician and singer, it’s always an honor to be invited to sing at new and exciting locations.  However, before I tell you about my latest opportunity, let me give you a little background.

This week was Spring Break and the family went to Moab in southeastern Utah to do a little bike riding and just get away from Utah County.

The Moab area was the home of the Fremont Indian culture (400 AD), who roamed the cliffs of the San Raphael mountains.  They painted and carved images on the cave walls and rock formations.  The images are called “pictographs” and can still be seen today.

There is a cool restaurant on the corner of Center Street and Main in the heart of downtown Moab called “The Slickrock Cafe.”  They adopted a pictograph critter as their  icon for the cafe.  It’s a combination of a lizard and dog and it’s covered with spots. Read On!

Jackson Danger Performs at Milagros In Orem, Utah

Nearly every Friday night, I perform at Milagros in Orem, Utah.  I’m kind of a single “Jackson Danger Band” while I’m there.  I walk among the tables and sing songs from the 60s and 70s… which are my favorite.

I love those old songs from legends like Neil Young, John Prine, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead… just to name a few.  I like what they did with a simple acoustic guitar.  My parents think I’m an “Old Soul in a Young Body.”  I don’t know about that.

At Milagros, I walk among the tables and sing to folks while they are enjoying the best Mexican Food in Utah.  Of course, I can say that because my dad, Dave owns the place and I know what goes into giving his customers the best Mexican Mexican food around.

Sometimes people ask me to sing their favorite songs.  Read On!
